Maguindanao Pearls.
For me, the theme of Maguindanao Pearls is simply truth. It also teaches lessons that help readers know their self better. When I read it, I already knew that it was a story that promotes honesty. Maybe love is also there in some events but for me the thing that struck my attention was being true not only to others but also to yourself. Just like Lakambini. In my opinion, she did not do the right thing. She hid the pearls just to accuse Sinag-tala and win Magiting back. She wouldn't have to regret the thought of hiding the pearls when Sinag-tala was killed. Just wonder if she didn't hide the pearls, Sinag-tala would be alive, Lakambini wouldn't have any remorseful memory with Sinag-tala, they can solve the problem if only Lakambini thought right. Just like in our government. If only the government officials would be honest in holding big amounts of money for the project that would be implemented in our society, then we don't have to argue again and again about financial crisis. Our brothers and sisters wouldn't be naked or left alone with no shelter. I hope that this generation would remember this story. It doesn't only apply in the government but also in everything we do. Look how tragic an ending would be if you don't tell the truth. We don't want that to happen to anyone or to us. So start being true to yourself and you can be true to others as well.
